Land Sale Update  Two Approvals Secured - - Many More Challenges Ahead!
On October 8th we obtained City Planning Commission's approval; and on October 16th we obtained City Council approval to change our land use from low density residential to higher density mixed use. Our developer also committed to "Adult Active Living.” Thanks to all the 50-some Grace members who attended and supported this project. Thanks for all who spoke and who prepared to speak: Pastor Jen; Eric Olson, our attorney; John Kline and Darren Lazan, Northland’s civil engineer. Next approvals: Met Council and DNR.
Celebrating Everyday Grace
We love to see you on Sunday mornings, but we hope that what you experience at Grace goes out with you into your everyday life as well. How has Grace im-pacted you? What have been your favorite memories? As we gear up to cele-brate 60 years of Grace’s history and look forward to 60+ years of ministry to come, we want to share your stories! Will you take a few minutes and share your top five memories of Grace UMC? Include dates, names, pictures - what-ever you’ve got. Send your memories and pictures via email to or drop them in the church office. We’ll be highlighting a number of memories as we get closer to the 60th celebration, set for March 3rd, 2019..
The Children’s Christmas Pageant (The Big, Big Story) will be on Sunday, December 9th at the 10:00 a.m. service.  Rehearsal times will be taking place on Sunday mornings from 9:00-9:45 a.m.  If you have any questions contact Paige Macklin at
Adult Choir Christmas Cantata, Dec. 16th at both services.
Christmas Poinsettias:  Can you believe it—it’s already time to order poinsettias for our Christmas Altar Garden. You can designate to honor or memorialize someone with your purchase. A list of these individuals will be distributed on or near Christmas. Forms for ordering are on the table in the narthex. The dead-line for placing your order is Sunday, December 2nd.
Giving Tree:  One of the decorations in the Gathering Area during the holiday season is a GIVING TREE. A “wish list” of needs for our church and missions has been gathered and listed on ornaments that decorate the tree. To give some-thing simply take an ornament from the tree with the item you intend to give. When your gift is complete, simply place it under the tree. More details coming in December’s Grace Notes.*
Christmas Caroling & After Party
You are invited to join the choir members for our annual tradition of Christmas caroling with our church friends. We will meet at the church on Sunday, December 16th at 4:00 p.m. *For more details see the next Grace Notes which will be distributed on Sunday, Dec. 2nd.
An Advent calendar with a twist! This calendar will take you through your home and Scripture each day as we journey closer
to Christmas. Rather than a sweet treat, each day will give you a taste of Scripture and surprise you with how many gifts surround you every day!
Pick up your calendar today or anytime throughout Advent on the table in the narthex.
Adult Sunday School
On Jan. 6th we will begin a new study by Adam Hamilton, Simon Peter: Flawed But Faithful Disciple. This is a six-week study accompanied by amazing on-site DVD segments. It reminds us that God takes us as we are and enables us to use the talents He has given us.  Cokesbury is currently offering pre-publication sale prices and a free mini-book with illustrations and commentary. Be sure to order the regular guide book, since there are several versions.
We meet at 9:00 a.m. in room six just to the left of the sanctuary and we are very flexible. If you need to arrive late or leave early, no problem. If you just wish to come to and listen, that’s fine. There are no requirements. Questions or further information, please contact Nancy Milne at 952-226-3547 or

In 1914, World War I, the bloodiest war ever at that time in human history, was well under way. However on Christmas Eve, numerous sec-tions of the Western Front called an informal, and unauthorized, truce where the various front-line soldiers of the conflict peacefully met each other in No Man's Land to share a precious pause in the carnage with a fleeting brotherhood..
