Welcome to all worshiping with us today, especially those of you who are guests among us. We hope you will make yourselves known to those sitting near you by signing the Registration pad. Once it has passed to the far end of the row, please pass it back to where it started. Immediately after the service, please introduce yourself to Pastor Jen.

Children and Sunday School: Children are welcome in worship. We also provide childcare during the 10:00 AM worship service. Our well equipped nursery is for children up to 3 years old. School age children have Children's Church following the Children's Message.  Children are welcome to go to Children's Church or return to sit with their family.

Adult Sunday School begins at 9:00 a.m. in Room 6, just to the left of the sanctuary.
Starting January 6th, Short Stories by Jesus: the Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi by Amy-Jill Levine
This study is a fresh perspective on some of Jesus' most well-known parables, coincidentally written by a rabbi. Her premise is that Jesus was essentially telling a story and "good storytellers adapt their tales to the needs of their audiences."  Given that, how did the original Jewish audience understand these "stories" and how do these parables still challenge us in the 21st century? You need only purchase the participant guide. A book is available, but it covers more material than we would cover in class. We meet before the service at 9:00 in room six, just to the left of the sanctuary.

Gathering at the Pastor's House
Pastor Rory and Beth would like to invite church members to sign up for a Sunday afternoon at the pastor’s house. This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other better. We will have coffee and punch. We ask each family to bring a small appetizer or treats to share. We will gather from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and each go around the circle to introduce ourselves. A sign-up sheet will be in the Narthex on one of the tables by the coffee. It would be great if you signed up for a group that you aren’t as familiar with.
Gathering Jan.12th, 19th & 26th.

It usually goes quickly with lots of hands helping out. Also, if you purchased any poinsettias, feel free to take them home at any time. For clean-up purposes, we’d appreciate it if none were left behind..

Sidewalk Shoveling volunteers needed!
Now that the snow has arrived, volunteers are needed to help keep our sidewalks clear and safe.  Our main shoveler from years past is no longer around on a regular basis, so we are definitely in need of people for this chore. Remember, if you need to shovel your walk at home, chances are the church needs clearing too. Shovels are at the church, but you might like your own better. For heavy, serious snow we have a snow blower.  Please contact Gordy Peters for information, 952-435-6189.

Where the Crawdads Sing by Deli Owens
A painfully beautiful first novel that is at once a murder mystery, a coming-of-age narrative and a celebration of nature....Owens here surveys the desolate marshlands of the North Carolina coast through the eyes of an abandoned child. And in her isolation that child makes us open our own eyes to the secret wonders—and dangers—of her private world.

Friends, Fellowship, Food:  Did you know that January 25th is Chinese New Year and that 2020 is the year of the rat? The rat is the first of all zodiac animals and in Chinese culture, rats were seen as a sign of wealth and surplus because of their reproduction rate! Come celebrate with us that Saturday at noon. We will celebrating at The Chinese Gourmet Restaurant located at 12901 Aldrich Ave. S. in Burnsville. Please Rsvp to Mary Barthel by Sunday, January 19th, at mcbarthel51@gmail.com, 952-435-3529 (Home), or 952-215-4768 (Cell).
